Thoda Battle in Bishu Festival

Thoda Battle/ Dance in Bishu Festival Andheri near Sangrah Town of Himachal Pradesh. According to Sources Bishu Festival Andheri has been calibrated from last 350 years and this is one of oldest festivals of Sirmaur region. People of Greater Sirmour (Tran- Giri), Upper Shimla and Jonsar area of Vikasnagar district has been organized Bishu Festival/ Mele in Beshakh and Jeth month (April-May) of Vikrami Year. Bishu Festivals are symbolization of Mahabharata Religious War and participants of Thoude War are clash with Bow and Arch in Mela. Before independence, In Sirmaur State Giripar aria was divided in Shathi and Pashi clusters which attacked on each other on occasion like Bishu and Mon Festival/Fight. In 19th century dew to awareness, education and bylaws of government both groups of area made good relation between them and Thoude War converted in a kind of Sports now. People of Giripar Upper Shimla and Jonsar-Bavar organize Bishu and Thode only to preserve their culture and enjoy festival now. Bishu had been organized in Andheri, Kusanu, Kotba, Gelio, Girnal, Kuffar, Shilai, Plech, Kando, Jakna, Ranibag, Suinal, Manpur , Sataun, Tanu-Jubbar, Dhawas, Turan, Chajpur, Sabarsu,Kotgarh, Thalog, Dharoch, Tiuni and Kawanu etc. Hill stations/ Villages of Himachal and Utrakhand state in traditional style. Andheri Bishu of Sangrah Subdivision is being organized from 15th to 17th Gate of Jeth (May) month. Andheri Bishu is the last Bishu Mela of Year in area. Ram Singh, Bhajan Singh, Rjender, Brijmohan, Joginder, Jagat and Ranveer Singh are main participants of Thodo Battle in the Bishu. The Bishu festival is starts after permission of Lord Shirgul with melodious and emotional music of Traditional Musical interment Dumenu, Dhol, Nagara, Karnal and Shahnai etc. Participants challenge each-other to Thodo/ Arches fight and hundreds of spotter appreciates/bust up their own warriors/ participants.
